New Team Jersey Mockup

The eagle-eyed amongst you will have seen the slight change in Thor gear our team will be using in 2007( the picture of Charlotte from the Sheffield indoor). We have switched to the Phase gear, a couple of reasons, but one thing is it lighter weight than the Core gear and more suitable for BMX we think.
Thor Phase gear is available right now on alansbmx.com

Thanks

Hi all,
just wanted to say a big thanks to everyone that showed up at the team meeting in Sheffield yesterday. Iam well aware its near xmas and its a flipping long drive for some of you. It showed a great commitment to the team that every rider (bar Wozza who i guess we can forgive )was there.
As you could see the gear sizing isnt that easy. Ive been pulling my hair out over this but now we got all riders fitted up. Iam delighted the helmets fit all be it with a bit of jiggery pokery. Its never going to be perfect for all.I think you have to agree its a going to be a great package. Probably the best in the paddock.

Again thanks to Alan on his,, (i was going to say day off but he dosent have one and it was his wife's birthday also) for driving down and to all riders and families for making the effort.
2007 looks brighter than ever. see ya soon Mike

Sheffield Indoor

Hi all well iam just back from the first race at the indoor dream in Sheffield. This is a great facility. Well done to Dave Taylor and all the boys and girls for making a much needed place to ride in winter.

So today was the first race of a four round series and around 70-80 riders 4X and bmx turned up. The track is great nice lippy jumps and technical sections and you have to work so its a good training track.
A SNAPSHOT OF THE ACTION
Shanaze was there and ripping although i think she had mixed luck in the mains.Abbey,Chloe, Sam ( star of the future)taylor where all shredding and keeping it extremely local!! Liam Phillips was flying and a host of others.
Alans was represented by myself, Louis Ferguson,Bradley Minns and Lewis Hipkins. I got my ass kicked after having to enter a much younger age group. But it was good to ride again after a while off the bike. I know Louis got 4th in the main. Bradley was looking super strong and testing new frames. Lewis was gritting his teeth and preparing for international competition in Barcelona.
The next round is 14th of January so lets do our best to support such a facility. After all where else could you ride in winter and get sweaty and dusty??
Check out some pics i took. Sorry i couldnt get action shots as my camera cant handle it..
see ya trackside Mike

Profile MIKE PARDON

How long have you been racing?
Well iam new back to racing this year after about a 22 year absence. I raced for Alans in 1982 on a Torker and got the number 2 plate in the national championships. Then i did a couple of races as a 16 expert and then became a pro freestlye rider. Other than that i havent raced a bmx until i did two old school races for Alan in 2003.

What is the one thing, training-wise, that you think is of most benefit to
you?
A 6 pack of heinken beer and a pie NO NO,,, The one thing? mmmm ok its a positive mental approach... Dont be beaten before you raced, train your brain

What's your favourite track and why?

Mate there all new to me but my favourite so far was Chesterfield. Fast downhill and good jumps. So good i found myself running back up to go around again

Who are your favourite riders?
Again there all new to me really,, but i have to say Wozza and Shanaze. The hardest worker and the most natural talent ive seen.. I love watching the up and comers. Louis Ferguson is my man for the future!

Do you do any other sports, if so what and do you think they help you with
BMX?

Yes i road cycle and train with weights, boxing training is the best in my book.

Favourite pre-race food?
Pasta, banana, fluids, cant eat much as i get to nervous.

Been back racing for 4 years.

Having a set routine

It would have to be Burnham and Harworth as I won both of my Nationals there.

It has to be Warren Bancroft, he is a pure natural
Also Miles Kirby, he gives it 100% where ever, when ever! Don’t ever relax in a race when Miles is behind you!

Do you do any other sports, if so what do you think they help you with in BMX?
Up until recently I raced historic Grand Prix Cars, the starts are as important as BMX, as you really don’t want to be in the middle of the pack going into the first corner as there is no guarantee that you will come out the other side! Due to my work, I get to play a lot of golf, which makes you calm things down and relaxes you, but still maintaining the competive edge.

Favorite pre race food?
Jaffa Cakes and Pasta
