Cornwall Schools Tour

Thanks to Andrew (Charlotte's dad) for forwading this info about this great progam they have down there promoting BMX racing by visting schools. Great job.
Cornwall BMX is taking the sport around local schools this summer in the form of a taster session in the playgrounds. The club has built a 2 man gate that runs the Pro Gate air ram and start system. The whole thing is mounted on a trailer so they just park, fit the ram and start running gates.
The first session took place on the 26th April at Camborne Science and Community School.
The team that set up the tour where blown away by the numbers who turned up and the enthusiasm for the sport. All the new riders had there best time over 20m recorded and the top riders received a medal presented by Charlotte Green British and National Champion. This has resulted in 15 riders coming to Cornwall’s Club night and joining up.
The club has been asked to do another session at the school at a later date and the calendar is fast filling with other schools eager for a taste of BMX Racing. A huge thanks go to Kelly and his team who have put in a massive amount of work to make this possible. More pictures at http://andy-green.magix.net/

James Christie in California

James is out in CA riding with daleholmes.com and the Flemdog. Here's a report that just came in:

Thought I would update you on how things are going over in California. We have been lucky enough to stay at Dale Holmes pad which has given a day to day insight on training, rest and diet.

On Saturday we raced in a State Qualifier in Apple Valley which is in the Mojave desert, the competition was not to strong and I took the win.

The following day we hit up Orange Y which is used by the AA pro's as it has a 4ft start hill and uphill first straight! The locals were super quick down the first straight but lacked technical ability, would be cool to see them ride Cheddar or Chessy.

Back up to Perris for another evening session which was more aimed at track and jumping the second straight which had two sets of large doubles.

During the day, we just followed Dale's riding routine which to say the least was harsh, but as the saying goes no pain no gain! lol

Popped Down to see Gary and Kathy at Avent/Bombshell to check out their new factory. Gary showed me the jig he designed for the TR7 which will be shortly going production. As the frames are going to be made in house you can specify the dimensions of your frame. Gary is hoping that the TR7 will be lighter than the already light Factor!!

Today we are not doing much, just a few gates on Dale's Pro Gate as tomorrow we are heading to an ABA National at Bakersfield who are expecting 3,000 riders.

Will keep you informed.

Team Product spotlight Vans ''Ryan Guettler''

Well heres the new shoe we are using kindly sponsored to us from Vans. Iam a huge fan of Vans ever since i was 14 and got my first pair, in fact the company is nearly as old as me!! Started in 1966.
The models we been chosen to use are the ''Ryan Guettler'' Whip signature shoe. I got these out of the box and rode straight away. Usually i have to break in a pair of shoes first but these are fine and rode like i had used them for ages. One thing that struck me on first feel was how light they are! A real positive for bmx racers.

They are a little more padded around the ankle giving good protection but ultimately give great feel. I know some riders will be racing in clips but for practice/trails/freestyle/chilling in these puppies are great.

The patented waffle sole is the usual vans standard, grippy and positive. They are supplied in black and camo to the team riders. They not only look great but work a treat..All hail our sponsors VANS...For more info/to order click here

Lewis Hipkins in Florida Update

Just a few results for you, Liam phillips raced really well won all his motos and semi and went into the 2nd berm in 3rd and went for a move for 2nd and slid out hes ok ready to go again on Sunday.
Lewis went well against kids a lot older than him all of them being born before september 1999 so if it was anywhere else they would be in the 8s.He had a 1st 1st 2nd in motos and i had to pay 5 bucks to view the finish line video as it was that close ,lewis was 3rd till the last straight after one of his usual bad starts but hit his favourite part of the track which is a rythm straight and just pumped past the two riders to a photo finish for 1st and 2nd he came 2nd by the width of his tyre so close ,but hes got a massive trophy so he was happy.
Fingers crossed for sundays race ill send a few more pics later

Chris
