Shanaze 5th in 500m TT!

From www.britishcycling.org.uk

2007 UCI World Track Championships

29th of March to 1st April
Palma de Mallorca

Women's 500 Time Trial

Report
Shanaze Reade's amazing fifth place on debut in the 500m Time Trial was edge of the seat stuff. We all knew she could do a quick first lap, but what would she be capable of over two circuits? The answer was probably the fastest debut time in the discipline, a stunning 34.633s going off second. To put it in perspecitve, that's just a couple of hundredths shy of the time Vicky Pendleton did in last year's Championships. We knew what she could do on the BMX track and now no-one can now be in any doubt as to Reade's ability as a track rider. Oh, and she didn't use tri-bars! Awesome!

Amazingly Reade found herself in the hot seat whilst 17 riders tried and failed to beat her time. Only when the big hitting final four got up to ride did Reade finally meet her match. First Simona Krupeckaite of Lithuania slipped inside her time and then the 19 year old Cuban Lisa Rodriguez very nearly went under 34 seconds. That looked promising, but then Anna Meares made Australia's first significant mark on the championships smashing the World Record by some 4 tenths of a second in recording 33.588. Defending champion Tsylinskaya had no answer to Meares and slotted into the bronze medal position.

Anna Blythe finished 8th, just missing a p.b. in the process, and Victoria Pendleton decided to skip the event to concentrate on the Sprint.

Shanaze Wins Gold at World Track Championships

Gutted that I missed her track debut at Manchester the other week, but she teamed up his time with Vicky Pendleton in the Womens Team Sprint and beat Holland to the Gold this time around. Well done Speedy Reedy!

I had, er, a hard time keeping the camera steady for this bit, sniff:

Read her pre-event interview here (this I suspect won't be the only interview you see with her in the coming weeks).

She is also going for the Gold in the individual Womens 500m with qualifying today (Friday) and the final on Saturday, be sure to watch Europsport!

Training tool...

If you were in the market for a road bike we just sold one of these... it's a cracking bike for the price.

Charlotte pics

Charlotte's dad Andrew just sent me this piece from their local paper:

Double Champion Gets Funding.
Cornwall BMX Racing Clubs British and National champion Charlotte Green 13 has been awarded a grant to help with training and equipment. Sports Aid south west has given Charlotte a £500 award in recognition of her outstanding results from last season.
Charlotte from Threemilestone has been riding BMX for 9 years said,
“The money will help with coaching and travelling expenses as there is only 1 track in Cornwall and I need to practice on other tracks as they are all different.
Charlotte has also been picked to ride for Alans BMX/Shimano DXR, for 2007 the top BMX race team in the country.
Charlotte’s Dad said,
“She has a huge opportunity this year to step up a level and with the support and training she will receive from Alans BMX/Shimano DXR race team we hope will enable us to go racing in Europe in 2008. BMX racing is in the Olympics in 2008 Beijing and there is a chance Charlotte could go to the Olympics in 2012 in London”
This year Charlotte will be racing 13 - 15 year old girls in the National series because there are not enough female riders to make a 13 year old girls age group. Even so there are high expectations that she can win this group and take the championship again this year.
If you would like to find out more about BMX Racing go to www.cornwallbmx.co.uk or call 07761426972.

Lewis in Florida Pt2

We raced last night at Sarasota track it was a good night lewis was the only 7x there so he raced the 8s he looked really good he had a 2nd 3rd 3rd and 2nd in the main.
I have never seen him pedal as much the track is really fast so we put a harder gear on and he was still spinning ,we have booked him in for a stile ind race clinic they are supposed to be really good .Its weird not having race lanes on the start hill so its a bit strange for him to learn that the riders get out the gate and go where they want.
ill send some pics over later Harrison Britt took a few pics and vids so we will see if we can send them.

Getting all factory

Thanks to all who showed up for the race today . A big thanks to Alan(who as if he hasnt enough on his plate had to turn around and go back because he forgot the team shirts) I have to say thanks to Chris Hipkins who from his own pocket stumped up to give the team jackets.! Iam really proud thanks Chris..
All rode well today,Bradley putting his coaching to good use to win the final. Arran was cooking with gas to win his group.

Most of the rest had to race two age groups up from there own ages, no one gave up which is a credit to you.
But i want to say well done to Katie.Charlotte,Lewis,Anthony,Bradley,Arran.Alex. I felt really proud when you all had the gear on.(Wozza will be around soon!!!)

Unfortunately we have lost some valuable team members the Fergusons, Jake, Louis,Paul and Jen are giving the race scene a break and doing other stuff. You will be sadly missed folks and i can only thank you for all your hard work last season.Good luck and see you soon

Remember now's the time to get rid of those old stickers/shirts etc and just to use the new sponsors stuff.Lets look forward to the first national!!
mean while enjoy the pics and speak soon Mike
