Video

I made a little video from Chesterfield, BUT BEFORE YOU WATCH IT I'm no professional, I didn't capture everyone and I may re-do it and will definitely learn from it and do a better one at the Brits!

Barbecues and fun??

Just wondered if anyone fancied a big BARBIE feast at Harworth
I have a cracking little portable barbie. If we all brought a few bits and bats mmm i can smell it now. I make a cracking curry. I think the least we owe ourselves is a nice feed and some beverages. It would be a great time for everyone to relax and get chatting. Let me know what you think Fri/sat/ or Sunday?

Also we will get some team photos and i want champagne (or cheap sparkling wine) to celebrate our success.

Well we did it.. and how!
I was just so proud of everyone and the way they rode - and we didn't have it easy, me or Mike will post a report shortly, but the standouts were the Ferguson brothers with Lewis taking his first win in the 10's and Jake with a superb 2nd in 12-13, Alix Deakin KILLING IT in 14-15 from about 3rd on the first straight he just kept pulling away. Wins too for Bradley in 12 & U Cruiser, Mike Pardon taking the 40+ Cruiser win AND the series title. All in all five 1st and four 2nds on the day! Again thanks everyone for your effort and to our sponsors for their support this year:

We did it!!!!

Hiya all, well ive just awoken and realised it wasnt a dream. We did win.
In fact no we cleaned up!!!
I want to say well done to every single rider. There has (i hope) evolved a great team spirit and camraderie within the team. It certainly showed this weekend.
Heres some flashes from my perspective.
Anthony and Louis having a super battle in the final.
Bradley never giving up and going huge!
Jake Ferguson taking awesome lines and getting the results we know he is capable of.
Katie riding great after coming back from injury.
Arran ( i spelled it right mate) killing it in the quarters. Just to be denied in the semis. Well done mate.
Jake Cheetham laying waste to the cruiser class and riding two classes. Where does he get his energy?
Alex Deakin cooking with gas and winning the main!!!!
Wozza just being the coolest dude out there. Hard luck mate.
James getting pumped making his final. In one of the toughest classes.
Lewis Lacey just ripping it up with style.
Me having an old school battle with Tony Slater, and getting the number 1 plate with all my own teeth. (thanks James)
Alan not having the bottle to watch most of us race because he is to nervous!! Nice one

We will have the official number 1 t-shirts to give all at the BRITS heres a sneak preview.

There are three weeks till the brit showdown. I firmly believe everyone in our team could win a number 1 plate. How good would that be?? Have a few days rest then get on your bikes and focus on Harworth. I rode it on Friday and its great. Iam down there on Thursday with the BCF and going to the regional on sunday. So i hope to see some of you. If you need any advice on training or preparation dont hesitate to mail me at mpardon@hotmail.com

Thanks to everyone and well done again..see ya trackside MIke
heres some pics i uploaded of the racing off KNARLEY (sorry if ive missed some of you its all i could find on there)

a few pointers for Chesterfield

Hi to all the team, i hope some of you at least get to take a look at Alans team blog. We want all the team riders to use this site to get information or raise issues or questions or have some fun.So dont be shy!!!

Well its the final countdown to the last national of the 06 season.
some tips
As some of you know iam new back to racing after a 25 year break!!! but it hasnt been to bad a comeback?? One thing i have noticed since my return apart from how gnarly the tracks in comparision to the 80s,,, is pedalling! Yes its what those things on the end of your cranks are! if you push on them they actually make your bike go faster, True theres a lot more technique in the new millieum but theres no substitute for good hard pedalling.
Try and think about this during your races this weekend. Pedal everywhere, even though
Chessy is a downhill track. Lots of people tend to coast between jumps because of the speed or they think they are going really fast! (me included)
Believe me the winners this weekend are going to be riders who put in those extra turns of the crank between jumps.

I rode the track on Sunday and wednesday evening and its great. Fast exciting and a good mix of jumps. The gate can be a little slippy so check your tyre pressures and definetely use full knobblies. Ive been trying out slick tyres at smoother tracks but here the gate dosent offer much grip and since gates are all inportant. I can sacrifice the extra speed and grip of a slick on the rear, for grip off the start.

Mental preparation
The training side of things for this weekend should be done and dusted now.
Even though i race an older age group i train hard. When i get on the line iam going to win!! its as simple as that. I dont care who iam racing thats my attitude.

Ive heard a lot of people during my time in sports beat themselves before the go! Dont be one of them, try this. Think positive go out to win. What harm can it do to believe in yourself. This is bmx racing and anything can happen. So try the positive mental attitude approach. I get to the line and because i train and practise hard. I dont have to worry, all i need to focus on is getting to the line first.
Sometimes thats all the separates most good athletes from achieving there goals. The self belief. So give it a go this weekend i bet you it works???
Lets have this number one team plate and clean up again.

see you all trackside. Mike

Flick'r Pics

Here are a few non-action pics I took at Cheddar (opens in new window).

Hilly W2

Alan Hill put the best first turn pass I have probably ever seen in my life in the 30+ final in Brazil and just missed out by about 1/2 a wheel to Jason Carnes at the finish. Hilly rides for Redline but still uses Bombshell F1 forks on his 20" and Cruiser. Well done Alan!
